Thomas McKay

Innovative design joined to historic preservation, carried from concept through permitting, financing, and construction.

Thomas McKay, RA, AIA, is an architect and developer with more than 30 years of experience leading commercial, residential, and hospitality projects across the United States and internationally. He is founding principal of McKay Architecture and Design, where he has designed and executed more than $120 million of work and planned a further $50 million yet to be realized. Earlier he was a principal at MSM Architects, directing flagship retail and corporate projects for houses including Versace and Hugo Boss, and he began in Milan at Studio Citterio. He has taught at Parsons School of Design and served as a visiting critic at RISD, the Boston Architectural Center, and City College of New York. At Palazzo Architecture he brings that range — design held together with historic fabric, development, and construction — into the studio’s residential and hospitality work.

Begin with architecture. Palazzo will carry the work through visualization, engineering, and construction when the project requires it.
